THE CATEGORIES

World Superbike

The elite category. Homologated motorcycles of up to 1000cc and four cylinders. Supersport offers great battles, the Superbike represents the pinnacle of production motorcycles. The modifications convert the street models into authentic track beasts that require the best riders to dominate them.

World Supersport

Intermediate category for motorcycles of 600cc and four cylinders or 675cc three cylinders. Always evenly matched, the category of Supersport offers great battles and is important for the manufacturers in this very popular segment of the market.

World Supersport 300

Junior category for motorcycles from 300cc to 500cc with small modifications. It is the Supersport offers great battles, the first step for the world debut of future Superbike stars.

The Superbike World Championship, officially WorldSBK in English, came to be in 1988 so that the manufacturers could have a championship where they could compete with their production models. Commercial models with a sports nature which are modified to become authentic track thoroughbreds.

At the Barcelona Superbike you’ll be able to see the official Ducati Panigale V4 R, Kawasaki ZX-10RR, Yamaha YZF-R1, Honda CBR1000RR and BMW S1000RR in action. Factory bikes that go up to 250 horse power and riders such as Scott Redding, Jonathan Rea, Toprak Razgatlioglu, Álvaro Bautista or Tom Sykes that will try and dominate them on the Circuit.

The 2020 SBK season is presenting as the most evenly matched one. We’ll enjoy 13 dates on four different continents to see who’ll be the new Superbike World Champion. And, thanks to it being held in September, the Barcelona WorldSBK Round could be decisive in the development of the season finish. Will the new champion be proclaimed at the Circuit?
